The first of the Philly pop-up gardens has arrived! For a two day teaser earlier this week anyway. On April 15th and 16th, the weather was gorgeous, and the PHS Pop-Up Garden appeared on the West Plaza of the Comcast Center in the Arch Street courtyard.
The teaser coincided with efforts for Comcast Cares Day, which is Comcast’s largest single-day service event. It is held every April, and this year the pop-up garden served as a public precursor of two school improvement projects.
Walking by the garden, you could see the nearly 13,000 multi-colored pansies and 74 square feet of moss on display. These flowers will contribute towards the beautification efforts at two schools (George W. Childs Elementary in South Philadelphia and Adaire Elementary in Fishtown) during Comcast Cares Day on April 25.
Stay tuned for more on the PHS Pop-Up Garden season on their website and social media pages.
